The same modification can be done by right clicking in SSMS (SQL Server management Studio) on the SQL Server instance from the Object Explorer pane and choose Facets from the drop down menu:

this is working.

I also faced same issue, but all the registry parameters are pointing to correct directories. Still I am getting the error. If I move to another node the SQL Agent services comes up without any issues.

We are seeing this exact same issue. Everything was working fine and now we are getting the binding error.
What has caused this to change?
Did Microsoft send out an update that caused our linked servers to now need the queries re-written to work?
I need to report to management why the change is needed.

i am using window 8, and trying to connect to sql server 2000 using sql managament studio 2008 r2, i followed the step but i found that i cannot find this path "Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn\Resources\1033" i can see only "Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn\1033" which mean Resources folder was missing, i tried to created it manually, but it didnt worked

I seems that you have a corrupted msi file. Try to download another copy of the installation kit and start installation from local.
Also you can go to properties \ security section and select "Unblock".
Please tell us if this solved your issue.
